Why we exist
The Financial Liaison Committee exists to make recommendations to the Commission on methods of funding MLC and collecting levies. It is also consulted on the Commission's plans for expenditure in each area of work.
Who is on the financial liaison committee?
As with other MLC Councils and Committees, representatives are drawn from across the industry to provide a balance of interests. Current members include representatives from the NFU, NSA (National Sheep Association), NPA (National Pig Association), NBA (National Beef Association) and British Meat Manufacturers Association. Relevant Directors and Senior MLC staff also attend the meetings.
Links to the organisations listed above (where available) are given on our links page.
What we do
We try to ensure that levy payers' funds are split fairly between the various activities of MLC, taking into account the funding requirements of the Research Steering Committee and Promotion Councils.
Another important area is making sure levies are collected from all the people and companies from which they are due.
